The Events of Birthday # 30

Shawn came in around 8:00 and wished me a Happy Birthday and gave me a kiss before he left for work. I stayed in bed until 9:00. I got ready to go into Bozeman for my massage that Shawn had gotten me.
I got to Tina's office and it was freezing! She said the heat must not have been on over the weekend. Thank the Lord the massage table has heat in it so I didn't suffer hypothermia. The massage felt wonderful.
As I was getting ready to leave my best friend Brittany called. We chatted while I got in the car to go to Costco to gas up my car. Meanwhile Shawn is trying to reach me. I figured he just wanted to see how my massage was so I wasn't going to interrupt our conversation for that. But after the 4th beep in I figured he must really need me. So I clicked over ... he wanted to know if I wanted to go to Whitehall with him ... he was leaving shortly. I said "sure."
So I fore go my plan to take advantage of my gift card to ROSS I had received from my in-laws. And I meet Shawn at the house and we head to Whitehall. It's a nice drive and I always enjoy the scenery in Montana. We decided we would eat lunch at the "Taco Bell" in Whitehall. I was excited because TB is one of my FAVS! So I tag along to his claim and he was done in a jiffy. And he has to get on the phone and he pulls into A&W/KFC. I said, "I thought we were going to Taco Bell." He said, "We are. It's Taco Bell/KFC." I said, "No. It's A&W/KFC." We were both terrified. :) I was so looking forward to Taco Bell. So we went in and ate anyway because we were both pretty hungry by then. And I got an ice cream cone to-go. My sister called on our way out of town so I talked to her for a little while.
We were then on our way to a claim in Big Sky. I once again enjoyed the scenery and spending the time with Shawn. We saw 5 sheep on the way up -- 3 little ones and a big daddy and a mommy. They were cute. On the way out I saw a couple of elk and some deer. We stopped to fuel up his truck and I saw some Soy Nuts in the gas station so I got them for a treat on the drive back to Bozeman. They were yummy!
Our friend Marty had called while we didn't have reception, so as soon as we had reception again Shawn gave him a call back. They talked for a while, and I got on the phone with him. I told him of my plans to get my ear pierced for my birthday. His response - You rebel. Don't you know your body is a temple? It made me laugh. He's only been saved about 3 or 4 months and he is quoting Scripture at me.
So we get to the mall and we look around JCPenney, and then go into Claire's. Shawn doesn't want to watch and wants to go look around Eddie Bauer, but I insist he has to be there with me. So he comes in with me.
I quiz the girl to make sure she has experience because I really don't want this messed up. And thank the Lord she had a ton of experience. (She said she had done an 85-year old lady earlier that day! Her late husband had bought her diamond earrings and she wanted to wear them before she died. Isn't that sweet?)
While I'm sitting in the chair waiting for her to get everything sanitized and ready, I started to get some abdominal cramps. I wasn't nervous. And it went away. So she gets me lined out and pulls the trigger. It was so easy! It hardly hurt at all. I was psyched! I get up to go pay and I get over to the cash register and things start to go black. I thought I just had a head rush so I lean on the counter and I swipe my card, and then things start to go really black. I tell Shawn I'm blacking out and can't see. I grab onto him and then I get nauseous. So he enters my pin and then grabs me and takes me to the chair. He wants me to go to the bathroom but I'm telling him I can't. The lady sticks a sucker in my mouth. And I tell her I can't because I'm going to throw up. So I grab the bag my saline and Instructions for Care are in and I pull out the bottle of saline and start hurling right there in Claire's for everyone in the mall to see through their big window. There were some high school girls in the store and Shawn said they were just staring with wide eyes at me. I could not believe how long and how hard I threw up. It had been over 6 years since I had! (I didn't have any charcoal capsules in my purse - believe me - it was my first thought! :)) But once I was done I could see again and I felt a ton better.
So all that to say, I think I'm allergic to soy nuts!
Just kidding. But it definitely made for a memorable 30th birthday. And my new piercing looks hot! :D

New pictures of house

Here are pictures of the main level. The upstairs still has a lot of work to do. I'm going to try to finish the guest room today.

I also included a picture of the flowers Shawn got me because I was having a bad week last week.

The Shack

I finished reading "The Shack" last night. My mom read it, and then Marty read it and gave me his copy to read. I was very confused on whether it was a real story. I just went to the author's website and read that it is not a true story, and thus fiction, as stated on the book. But he does a great job of making you think that it's real. It is very well written, with the exception of a few corny parts. But the detail he gives helped me paint a vivid picture with my mind's eye. Alot of the time I was analyzing more than enjoying. I was wishing there were scriptural references inserted. :) If you're looking for a good read, I would recommend it. But not if you're looking for something to base your theology/doctrine on. Kristin and Britt, I'd love for you guys to read it and tell me what you think!

Real Quick

We closed on our house on Friday. The stove and the refrigerator haven't come in yet, so we're waiting for that. And the contractor still has a couple of small things to finish up on. We're getting the sod and fence installed and getting a small shed in the next couple of days. We're hoping to be all moved in by the end of this weekend. Yeah! I'm so excited. God is good! I'll update once we're all moved in and upload some pictures.

My New Venture

I signed up this week to become a consultant with Arbonne, an all natural skin care and beauty line. Our roommate Marty was my first sale last night! It was so fun going over the products with him. I'm excited to receive my order in the next couple of days, and then begin to see the results. I'm going to do before and after pictures... I may just have to post them!
We're headed to Dickinson on Saturday for a long weekend. I'm looking forward to it! I haven't seen Cory's family since February, and Natashia is showing now, so it will be fun to see her and feel the baby boy! She said the first time AJ felt the baby kick he face lit up like the sun! How fun.

House Hunting and a Miracle

We decided to look at buying a house. We're looking in Belgrade, since that's where the church is that we're getting involved in. We had a realtor show us a few places today, and we're looking at more on Saturday. We're getting excited to have our own place and be home owners again, and to get off the gravel road. :)
A catastrophe team came in to Bozeman the end of last week so Shawn was relieved of all the claims on Sunday. He is back to his normal schedule again.
We're praising the Lord for a good report from the Tauer's!! Megan had started to go through rejection, "but it looks like the rejection is resolving! Her liver functions as of Tuesday morning were ALL normal!! WE BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!!!!" It's awesome to see God's hand on our little girl! (Although, she isn't too little any more...I believe she starts 5th grade this month!)

The Storm

We had a fun storm last night, but now there will be some lonely days ahead. It rolled in about 5:30. The power went out about 6:00 and it didn't come back on until around 11:00. We got some quarter-size hail and strong winds with it. I thought for sure these clouds were going to form into a tornado, but they didn't. My coworker that lives north of town had 5 trees down. So needless to say, the claims came rolling in to Shawn today. Last I heard from him, he was sure there would be over 300. Over 500 is considered a catastrophe and they call in help from around the country. He did get 10 adjusters sent this way to help him. But he is going to have some late nights the next couple of weeks. Marty got called back to the rig and Justin only comes home to sleep and shower. So it's just me and the dogs. We have another small storm going right now. We're getting rain again, so that's nice.
