My dog, the baby robin killer
Sadie got her first bird of the season this weekend. I tried to prevent it, but it all happened so fast. She had had her eye on it for a while, always going back to the lilac bushes to sniff it out. And then on Saturday I took her out with me to take out the trash and there they were, two of them on the ground. Sadie froze to a point and I looked over and it all happened in a flash. I don't think I've ever seen her move that fast and she chomped down on the one. I hollered, but it was too late. She did one more chomp and then dropped it and ran to me in excitement. I dropped my bags of garbage and went to see if there was any sign of life, and there was none. The baby was gone and Sadie was so proud. And so was Shawn. So here I am feeling guilty for trying to attract birds with a feeder and bird house, and little do they know a killer is in their midst.

I am sorry, but that is funny, and sad :) I can just see sadie in the house rubbing her hands together like mr. burns saying "excellent.." while you were setting up your feeder :)
So was the robin injured before sadie got a hold of it? Sadie could have been a contract killer for the neighbor hood cat too, just a side gig :) How is your week going?
John
Well, I guess I'll leave my first comment on your "blog". I think you need to praise our little Springer when she kills those birds. It's a rare talent for a dog to have 5 confirmed kills in two years.
LOL You two are hilarious. I don't think the robin was injured, it just looked to be young. It's chest didn't have much color and was spotted.
My week is a little bit crazy. I've been training our new salesperson, so that keeps me busy. And I've been getting up at 6:30 this week to walk so by the late evening I am exhausted.
Robins don't eat bird seed, they eat bugs and worms, so Sadie wasn't being bad. Plus, robins are noisy and wake you up in the morning, so she was just trying to take care of you and let you get some more sleep! :)
I got another rabbit today -- it was chomping away on my flowers and then kabam -- lights out.
We picked chokecherries today and they are cooking now. I will make syrup tomorrow. I'm not going to make any jelly b/c we go through the syrup faster than jelly. It is SO good on chocolate chip pancakes :)
Can't wait to see you Thursday!!!
Christy
I didn't know they don't eat bird seed! That does make me feel better. :) Sadie almost got a rabbit today. She was so close, but stopped when I called to her.
Haven't seen a blog lately!? What have the three of you been up to?? :) KEELLLYYYY!!!!
