So I'm sitting outside talking to my parents on the phone last evening and letting Sadie roam the yard...so many smells, so little time outside. At one point I saw her eating grass so I yelled at her and my dad asked me why, so I told him she was eating grass again. He said dogs do that to settle their stomachs. Well my dog does it and she pukes it right up, so doesn't seem too settled of a stomach to me. So lo-and-behold, this morning at 6 am she waltzes into my room and starts puking! She must have gotten to more grass than I saw because it was quite a bit! Yuk! I was so mad, just what I want to do is wake up at 6 am to clean up dog vomit! I know what many of you are thinking...good preparation for parenthood. Right? Well that's why we have a dog. But I don't think I'm EVER going to enjoy cleaning up vomit. It really makes me want hardwood floors all over the house! :) So when I got to work I was telling my coworker about it and she said dogs eat grass to induce vomiting because they need to. Hearing these 2 different stories made me search online for an explanation and here is what I found out ... they have no clue why dogs eat grass and vomit. I had to laugh because one article said what I was thinking ... you would think they would have figured this one out by now. But they made a good point, we haven't found a dog that can tell us. :) I think Sadie just likes the taste of it, and knows she doesn't have to clean up the mess!

Hey there! So when I hear a human tossing cookies I want to puke too, are you the same way? And if so, does seeing/hearing Sadie make you kinda want to hurl too? :) Poor Sadie. I read an article too on the subject and they say the same thing you did, no one knows for sure!! Is it cause and effect? Are dogs intelligent enough for herbology? Well the Davis Veterinary school at the U cali is conducting a research study on this subject!
I like your movie blogs, keep em comin!!

When Shawn has to hurl I have to plug my ears and sing to myself so I don't hear him. When he got so sick in Denver, I couldn't eat all day either because my stomach was so unsettled from listening to him. And yes, my stomach turns, not so much from listening to Sadie, I think because it sounds different than how we sound, but seeing it come out. I saw that as well about the Davis Veterinary school doing the study...will have to follow up on that.
We rented Apocalypto and Black Snake Moan this weekend, so will have to blog on that. Thanks for commenting!! :)
How about when dogs aren't smart enough to realize that every time they chew up a foam ball or frisbee, it's going to come out one end or the other?! My gosh. Buckley has no off switch when it comes to chewing things. One day I came home from school and lo and behold, here he'd eaten off one of the boards on our garage, and there was insulation flying everywhere into the wind! I think labs go through this stage when they are young though (maybe all puppies do in general) and he seems to be getting a little better. But I hear you on the grass thing. Very mystifying.
